An Open Letter to Women in Business
A note from me to you. An open letter to women in business. You. Are. The. Other. Woman.
Disclaimer: If, after reading that, you’re turned off or have your heart set on a juicy, tell-all filled with real accounts of secrets from the eyes of someone living a double life, then keep reading. You may be on to something, but it’s not what you think…
Why “the Other Woman”??
Why would anyone proudly proclaim they are “The Other Woman“?? How is this relevant to you as an entrepreneur, for your business or your branding??
Simple. Who you are, your morals, values, beliefs, personality, etc, are the foundation of your brand. It shapes your decisions and how you govern yourself in business. It establishes your brand culture and brand reputation. It is your brand identity. Furthermore, your personal brand is just as, if not more important than, the professional brand you’re building. If people believe in you and trust you, they are more likely to want to engage with you, your products and services. However, if you’re not fully comfortable and confident in who you are, then how will you stand in the face of adversity?? How will you properly serve your clients??
The battle no one knows you’re fighting
I believe people, women particularly, struggle with positive affirmations because we haven’t first paused to acknowledge and embrace the fullness and totality of who we are. We purpose our lives in everyone and everything outside of ourselves, all the while ignoring the introspective pieces that ultimately yield the inner peace and satisfaction we’re seeking. We slip into boxes formed by others’ definitions and expectations, or we hide in their shadows. We minimize our intellect and opinions to conform to societal, demographic, and gender norms. We dilute our opinions to appease the comfort of professional superiors and coworkers. We suppress and internalize our struggles because we don’t want to be mislabeled or mishandled. We project our insecurities on to others to avoid reviewing the reflection of what we see, feel, and believe within. More often than not, we battle … silently.
How the proclamation, “i am the Other Woman”, helps
This is a tool to unlock the “other” parts of your existence. This time, it’s not about “them”; it’s about you. What you did or didn’t do before this point in time is no longer relevant. When something happened or what once was can no longer be your focus. This moment is an open invitation for you to confess, believe, and change as YOU see fit.
A transformation of this nature begins with a thought, a belief, a concept that you recognize and later accept. Reshaping your perspective and redefining your truth will prompt you to implement actions, which will manifest the reality you once envisioned and most importantly, the one God originally ordained.
I welcome you to adjust your mindset regarding who you are and who you can be. Recognize the available list is not intended to be all inclusive or all encompassing. All areas may not apply to you. That’s perfectly fine. I’m merely offering a starting point for you to evaluate what may be missing from your mind, heart, or spirit, so you can posture yourself to live beyond these self-imposed limitations.
What next??
Take time to reflect. Examine your behaviors. Learn new patterns. Institute better habits. Claim your healing. Pursue wholeness. Reject fear. Choose freedom. Accept all of your attributes as they are, your strengths, your weaknesses, and everything in between. Dig deeper, so you can go higher. Champion what makes you uniquely you.
Yes, you are The Other Woman. It’s time for you to identify and awaken the other side(s) of you. Don’t be intimidated by your brilliance. Embark upon this voyage to learn more about yourself, and then pray over your newfound discovery to ensure you never lose that(those) part(s) of you again.
